If you have been a licensed LCSW or LPC or hold a doctorate within the social sciences for at least 5 years and are looking to direct a program that impacts the outcomes of at-risk youth in the Northshore area, this could be the role for you!
The Director of Programs is responsible for the management and direction of all aspects of the clinical department at Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center. This position includes providing supervision to a team of Clinicians that work directly with our youth population.

Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center is a multi award-winning facility whose mission is to be a leader in addressing the needs of at-risk youth and those youth who have entered the juvenile justice system through the processes of rehabilitation and/or the teaching pro-social behaviors. We strive to ensure these processes are upheld by maintaining atmospheres that are not physically, emotionally, or psychologically damaging to the youth. FPJDC holds the safety of the communities it serves as a priority, along with that of the juveniles and staff within its facilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Clinical/Operational Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of quality of care, safety and operation of the clinical/programs department.
- Train staff on evidenced based practices, such as CBT, and Motivational Interviewing.
- Develop client goals and objectives; Lead team in the design and implementation of appropriate plans to meet agreed-upon goals.
- Conduct regular meetings with program staff to provide clinical supervision in resolving complex case problems and conduct in-service training.
- Review treatment plans to promote optimal quality and continuity of care.
- Model effective behavior and conflict resolution.
- Monitor all clinical documentation and treatment plans.
- Oversee day-to-operations to ensure program is in compliance with licensing regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards.
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision for clinicians/counselors/caseworkers and for internship students working within the department.
- Identify staff development needs and support appropriate training.
- Instill a sense of accountability and empowerment among team members by implementing standards of care for the department.
- Provide staff with updates/changes to policies, procedures and organizational goals.
- Assist with applicant interviews, and oversee training of all department staff members.
- Conduct in-house training classes in the area of Programs to ensure consistency and understanding throughout the agency.
- Ensure objectives for professional growth and development of clinical/program personnel are met by providing leadership and counsel.
- Maintain and foster cooperative working relationships with a variety of resources and services, community organizations and criminal justice and social services agencies.
Desired Training and Experience:
- Licensure (LCSW or LPC) or doctorate within the social sciences (social work, psychology, counseling, etc.)
- Five or more years working with adolescents in a clinical setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of shelter, group home, detention, or institutional settings
- Two or more years of experience in management
The position requires:
- Experience in supervision and team management
- Knowledge of adolescent development, mental health and other co-occurring disorders
- Considerable and demonstrated skill in counseling and crisis intervention
- Communication skills – ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, in writing and verbally
- Effective work skills – conscientious, persistent, resourceful, productive and active
- Knowledge and experience in various therapeutic orientations and treatment modalities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff
